By: Nathan Roshawn | From: TrueRants Network This presidential election season has been one of the most unprofessional, bizarre, and grossly immature events in US history. The candidates have done nothing but polarize and divide this country. This has left people confused as to who they should vote for. Those who are fed up with government control and manipulation are flocking to Donald Trump, while more progressive individuals, concerned with maintaining the status quo (or who dislike Trump), seem to align more with Hillary Clinton.
However, If we were to talk about the true facts behind the election, and the candidates, we would see that the American people have more in common in their beliefs than they do with either candidate. The truth is everyone is looking for a system that works for them. Everyone is looking for the chance to progress in life, become successful, and live out their life peacefully, well fed, secure and free. The only difference is the beliefs in how we get there. However, if we really saw the real problems and discussed those as a country, I bet we wouldn't be too different on our solutions. Unfortunately, the old "divide and conquer" game is still being played, and even with many people aware of the strategy now, still it stands. In a perfect system, where every vote is counted and money doesn't influence an election, voting is a critical necessity. If the populace doesn't vote, the system simply doesn't work. A very small group of individuals end up making decisions for the larger whole. This is the system that many Americans believe we have today. Often you might hear your neighbors or co-workers talking about how important it is to vote and society almost shames you if your response isn't, "Yes, I'm voting for ...." This is a result of the false pride we are programmed to have in our system because unfortunately most people are poorly educated on the 'REAL' political system. It isn't always their fault though. In this system, the popular vote (being the vote you cast) is an illusion. While you are allowed to go to the voting polls and pencil your decisions on a paper ballet, or push a button on a computer to vote, that vote does not have any weight on the election. This goes not only for national elections, but often state and local as well. In the US election cycle, it is more like a game of monopoly, but instead of the players buying properties, they are buying candidates, and the players aren't us. They are corporations. If you are second guessing that statement you may want to do some research on your own. It doesn't take but a quick search into previous election results to find the truth. In 2000, Al Gore actually carried the popular vote, however, George Bush stole the election with electoral votes. In the 2004 election between George W. Bush and John Kerry, a recount was demanded in Ohio where it was found that election officials were purposely choosing recount locations where they knew the overwhelming majority was so great it would not change the results. This happened again in 2008 when allegations of voter suppression and voter list purging occurred in Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina. In addition, the Lt. Governor of Montana, John Bohlinger, accused the Montana Republican Party of vote caging to purge 6,000 voters from three democratic counties. Allegations in Michigan arose when the Republican Party planned to challenge the eligibility of voters based on a list of foreclosed homes. All attempts to sway votes in a certain direction. Unfortunately, It isn't just vote count manipulation that is going on, their is fraud on all levels of the election process. If at anytime those fraudulent "workarounds" fail, they even have a fail safe system to regain control. We know these systems as the electoral college and those oh so important super delegates. In the early 1800's and 1900's the electoral college played a crucial part in the election system. During the years before telephone and the automobile, before the postal service and the internet, word traveled slow across this country. Voting in national elections would be virtually impossible. A group of individuals was created that would be responsible for each state and these individuals would represent the views of their home state and village and vote on the behalf of the citizens to allow for a quicker process. Today, we still have an electoral college but what do they do? We no longer need them to "represent" us. It should be safe to say they are a form of control to keep the votes "true" so they don't get too far in the "wrong" direction. It doesn't just stop there, however. It may still be possible for votes to sway in a way they don't see fit. So another group, who we know as super delegates, are here to save the day. Their votes hold much more power than a standard vote and usually choose who the candidates will be in the primaries. Is this a group operating on our behalf? Considering the fact these "super" delegates are usually people in the elite class, political class, or some other genre of people who stay very close to big business, government, or money, it'd be insane to think they work on your behalf. Perhaps you have another view on how our election system works, but let me say this. An honest voting system is simple, transparent, and open to all citizens. There is no explanation beyond that needed, and the argument that our system has to be complicated, or that people would vote dozens of times for a candidate, and manipulate the vote if not for our system, is weak. Fraud and corruption are wreaking havoc on our political system and have been for years. Even before Donald Trump began making statements on the matter, and way before Wikileaks and other sources began leaking documents. It is now, however, that it has become so bad that there is no where to hide or sweep away the truth. Instead of telling your co-workers, family, and friends that if they don't vote they are ruining this country, perhaps you should say, by voting for the "less of 2 evils" you're continuing the hijack of this country. For once, vote for who YOU believe in and if that candidate doesn't exist this election, do not vote, or write in who you want for the position. If we continue to let the system control us and go a long with what they want. We will never truly be free. |
