Was Mars Victim To Nuclear Annihilation?

According to one scientist, John E. Brandenburg PhD, Mars shows signs of what he believes were nuclear explosions in the distant past. Brandenburg is a plasma physicist, and the author of the books, Life and Death on Mars: The New Mars Synthesis, and Death Of Mars, as well as other publications available on Amazon.com.

In his books, Brandenburg explains his hypothesis that over 500 thousand years ago, explosions devastated the ecosystem and upset the environment. He used data collected from the 2001 Mars Odyssey Orbiter to collaborate his theory. Through images and evidence obtained, Brandenburg saw signs of surface solidification caused by the instantaneous heating and re-cooling of the Martian surface. He also reported finding measurable amounts of radioactive material, such as Uranium, and Thorium, two major components of nuclear devices. 

In a July 27th, 2015 interview on Premiere Networks, Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, Brandenburg explains how it is possible that Mars once looked like planet Earth and also hosted a humanoid civilization. The Cydonian Hypothesis, as it is referred to, looks at structures found on the Red Planet that appear to be man-made in two areas called Cydonia Mensa, and Galaxias Chaos. Areas where it is also suspected the doomsday devices were deployed. 

This is the area where the Cydonian Face was discovered, a rock structure showing eyes, nose, mouth, and helmet detailing. Also in this area, eroding brick structures were discovered showing signs of the past civilization. It is uncertain how or why the explosions occurred if at all. Brandenburg has received criticism from some mainstream researchers and scientists on his claims. However, looking at the evidence provided and the dark mysterious history being discovered frequently about Mars, it is hard to officially rule this theory out.
